Track and Field On the Road to Tuscaloosa for the Second to Last Regular Season Outing

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss Track and field team will continue their regular season at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium April 21-22.Â
"Some of our athletes had the chance to compete in California last weekend, and they had great showings and represented the team well. Our other groups got to stay back and prepare themselves physically and mentally for the rest of the season and are ready to step back on that track. I am looking forward to seeing how they are going to show out," said head coach Jon Stuart.Â
A few members of the track and field team are coming off some phenomenal performances at the Bryan Clay Invitational Dylan Evans, Smilla Kolbe, and Erin Phelps posted personal bests in their respective events, and all along with freshman Isabela Ross clocked times in the top-10 best in program history.Â
The Black and Gold competed in the Crimson Tide Invitational last season and look to repeat their successes with new school records, personal bests, and top-three finishes. Southern Miss will join host school Alabama as well as ​​Alabama A&M, Auburn, Hinds Community College, Indiana State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley, Meridian Community College, North Alabama, Samford, South Alabama, TAMU - Kingsville, Troy, UAB, and West Alabama.
Friday's action will begin with the women's hammer throw at noon and end with the men's hammer throw at 6 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m. Saturday is the women's discus throw. The women's four-by-100-meter relay is scheduled to start at 2:25 p.m. for Saturday's running events. The men's four-by-400-meter relay will round up the day at 9:15 p.m. Live results will be available; you can find the meet schedule here.Â
