MOBILE, Ala.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis team (6-10, 1-8 Sun Belt) is traveling to Mobile for a clash with South Alabama (14-5, 4-4 Sun Belt). Due to inclement weather, the game initially set for Saturday has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 16, at 2 p.m.Â
The Golden Eagles' most recent game ended in a 6-1 loss against App State in Boone, North Carolina, the previous weekend. By defeating Ellie Murphy and Savannah DadaMascoll 6-3 at the No. 1 position, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter led the Black and Gold to victory in the doubles point. Soon after, Clara Tardivel and Maddison Ricardo defeated Helena Jansen and Erika Dodridge by a score of 6-3. The Mountaineers would go on to win six straight singles matches despite this advantage.Â
Last season, Southern Miss faced South Alabama in Mobile, where they were trounced 4-0. The Golden Eagles fell in the doubles competition for just the second time in 2022, as they lost in the doubles match as South Alabama's pairs won two matches before play was suspended. Sarah Medik and Monique Burton lost by a score of 6-2, while Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter lost for only the second time. The Black & Gold lost their second road game of the year as they struggled to shift their luck in singles play with three two-set defeats.Â
The squad is slated to take the court at 2 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.Â
