Men’s Golf Holds Third Place at Tiger Invitational with One Round Remaining Tuesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Graduate transfer Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) carded a 70 and junior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) fired a 72 to lead Southern Miss during the second of the three-day, 54-hole Tiger Invitational taking place at Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.
Clarke shot five-under-par over the final 10 holes of his round to post a 70 at the par 72, 7,289-yard course, while Latter collected a 34 over the front nine to earn a 72 as each player is tied for sixth in the individual competition. The duo each share a stroke total of 139.
Both sophomore Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) and Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) find themselves in 33rd place after shooting a 77 and 78, respectively for a 146 total. Junior Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario) rounded out the Golden Eagle scores with a 79 to hold a tie for 74th with a 153-stroke total.
The No. 60 ranked Golden Eagles by GolfStat.com lost their grip on first place, falling to third in the team standings, shooting a nine-over 297 for a 570 total, 24 strokes off the lead behind No. 7 ranked Auburn. Troy holds second at a nine-under 567. Following the Golden Eagles to round out the top five are Auburn (B) at 574 and Chattanooga at 576.
The Golden Eagles tee off on the first hole beginning at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday to complete the event.
