HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis team ( 4-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) host New Orleans (5-2, 0-0 Southland) at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex on March 5 at 1 p.m. for their last match-up before conference play.
The Black & Gold are coming off a 4-0 win over in-state opponent Jackson State University. The match-up marked the 13th win over the Tigers, with matches dating back to 2010. The win also marked the second straight shutout for the 2023 season for the Golden Eagles.
The last time these two teams met on the court was last season when the Golden Eagles dropped the match against the Privateers 4-3 in New Orleans, La.
The Golden Eagles received singles wins from Sarah Medik, Maddison Ricardo, and Clara Tardivel, but due to a pair of doubles losses and three singles defeats led to the fall to the Privateers. This match was the first loss against UNO since 2013.
First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex, and all home matches are free entry.
Following the UNO match, The Golden Eagles will welcome Sun Belt opponent Georgia State to Hattiesburg for a Saturday morning match on March 11.
