Women's Tennis Records Second Shut Out of the Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis squad (4-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) shut out Jackson State University 4-0 (5-8, 0-0 SWAC) Thursday afternoon at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
"The team competed well and got us off to a good start in doubles. In singles, the girls used their patterns right from the start to win three singles. I am very proud of their efforts today," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
Southern Miss continued to show improvement in doubles play as the pair of Suhana Das and Clara Tardivel grabbed their fourth win as a pair together in a 6-4 win over Zeina Shabaan and De'Alva Alston. Zenn Lim and Maddison Ricardo moved to 3-1 for the season with a 6-1 victory over Tyra-Nicole Whyte and Robin Alston to take the doubles point.
In singles competition, Yazgan picked up a 6-4 win over Robin Alston before she retired. Newcomer Zenn Lim earned her fourth win of the season at the No. 4 singles spot with a 6-0, 6-1 sweep of De'Alva Alston. To close the afternoon, Hannah Chambers clinched the Southern Miss win in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat over Zeina Shabaan.
