Women's Golf Finishes Day One at Mountain View Collegiate in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – Momoka Ando's even-par round paced Southern Miss during the opening day of action at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The women's golf team is in a tie for 16th with Kansas State after a 297 at MountainView Golf Course.
Three Golden Eagles carded a pair of birdies on Monday in the Grand Canyon State. Ando, who is tied for 31st, had a pair of birdies on her back nine to help her shoot one-under over the final nine holes.
Freshman Alma Betoret's one-over 73 was her best round since carding the same score at the Lady Red Wolves Classic last semester. The Spaniard had a birdie on the sixth hole to finish one-over for the day after a clean first nine holes.
Taylor Tribe and Jacie Fields are both tied for 73rd after firing four-over 76's. Trible recorded a pair of birdies, while Fields had one on the day. Elena Melich is in 80th after a five-over 77.
TCU leads the field after going 12-under par over the first 18 holes. Karisa Chul-ak-sorn (TCU) and Caitlyn Macnab (Iowa State) are tied for first on the individual leaderboard after firing a seven-under 75.
Fields will be the first Golden Eagle off the tee box at 10:45 a.m. CST. Southern Miss will play 18 holes on Saturday before playing the final 18 on Sunday morning.
