The two teams will clash on Friday for the first time in the program's history. Against Georgia State on Saturday and Troy on Monday, the Golden Eagles began conference play this past weekend in Hattiesburg at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex. Sadly, Southern Miss lost both games by tight decisions of 3-4.
Against Georgia State, the Golden Eagles managed a win at No. 4, 5, and 6. Zenn Lim succeeded in two sets of 7-5 and 6-1.Maddison Ricardo would then go 6-4, 7-6, (9-7) for the feat over Panther opponent—Hannah Chambers recorded point three due to walkover.Â
The Golden Eagles topped Troy in doubles to take the lead but were defeated four times in singles play. Zenn Lim and Maddison Ricardo have a 5-1 record this year.
The Bobcats enter the match coming off a 3–4 loss to Old Dominion. Texas State could only win two singles matches—at No. 1 with a matching score of 6-1 and at No. 6 with two sets of 6-2—and missed the doubles point. Sofia Fortuno and Maria Lora's doubles team continued to be undefeated, and Fortuno extended her winning streak to six matches by going 7-1 in singles.
