Women's Tennis Falls Short in 4-3 Loss to Troy

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis team (5-4, 0-2 Sun Belt) loses a close contest with Troy (8-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) 4-3 Monday afternoon at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point to start the match. At No. 1 doubles, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter defeated Andrea Widing and Olivia Elliot 6-2, while Zenn Lim and Maddison Ricardo overcame Valeria Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis 6-4 at No.3 to secure the victory, and the point.
However, Southern Miss would lose four of their singles matches, with the only victories from Clara Tardivel over Olivia Elliot in two sets of 6-2 and 6-3 and Maddison Ricardo over Franziska Ahrend 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3).
