Women's Tennis Earns First at Home Win of the Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- For their 14th straight victory over the Lady Demons, the Southern Miss women's tennis team (2-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) defeated Alcorn State (0-4, 0-0 SWAC) 6-1 in at the Southern Miss tennis complex Sunday morning.
"The team got the doubles point and continued the momentum into singles.
The emphasis was on using their strengths to control the point, and the girls did a great job," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
With four feats from Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, Clara Tardivel, Maddison Ricardo, and Zenn Lim, the Black & Gold had a good showing in the singles competition. These victories are tied for most of the season. The pair of Yazgan and Richter earned the doubles point with their victory over Zholdakayeva and Kells 6-1. Ricardo defeated Kimberley Kaome in two sets, 6-1 and 6-2, to move to 3-0 on the year in singles competition.
