Women's Tennis Opens Spring Slate with Match Against Jackson State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's tennis team opens up its 2023 slate with a home match against Jackson State University. First serve for the Black & Gold is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
Seven student-athletes will seize the charge for the Golden Eagles. Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, Clara Tardivel, Suhana Das, Shevita Aulana, and Maddison Ricardo will return for the Black & Gold and are joined by newcomers Hannah Chambers and Zen Lim.
"I am very excited to get the season started with a great group of girls who have worked hard to improve their games in the Fall semester," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
The Golden Eagles look to build off of a strong 2022 campaign, finishing last season with a record of 13-5 and won two of the three Conference USA matches scheduled.
Southern Miss leads the series against Jackson State 12-0 with matches dating back to 2010. The Black & Gold last faced the Tigers last season at home on March 26, 2022 with a 4-1 victory for the team's ninth win of the season.
