Women's Tennis Set to Open Fall Season in Natchitoches This Weekend

HATTIESBURG, Miss.— Head coach Piyanart Engineer and the Southern Miss women's tennis team head to Louisiana to kick off fall competition this weekend. The Black & Gold are set to participate in the Women's Care Lady Demon Fall Invite in Natchitoches hosted by Northwestern State.
The Golden Eagles are one of the seven collegiate programs participating in this weekend's tournament. Players from New Orleans, Stephen F. Austin, Tyler Junior College, Louisiana, ULM, and host program Northwestern State.
The tournament begins on Friday, Sept. 16, at 9 a.m. until around 3:30 at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex and restarts on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until roughly 2 p.m.
Players will compete as individuals; the fall season does not consist of team scores.
The Black & Gold feature seven athletes for the fall season, including five returners from the spring 2022 roster. Shevita Aulana, Clara Tardivel, Suhana Das, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, and Alyssa Richter return for Southern Miss. Hannah Chambers of Barbados and Maddison Ricardo of Australia make their collegiate debuts for the Golden Eagles this weekend.
Yazgan was named Second Team All-Conference in singles.
