Golden Eagles Blank PRCC in Exhibition Win

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 win over Pearl River Community College on Friday night in an exhibition match at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
Newcomer Esmeralda Figueroa started the offensive onslaught with a goal less than 30 seconds into the contest. Freshman Julia Boaventura added another goal for the Golden Eagles 20 minutes later when she finished a crossing from Elexia Nelson.
Nelson traded in her assist for a goal of her own after hammering home a shot from inside the 18-yard box. Shortly before half, Alice Williamson made it a 4-0 lead for Southern Miss after Samantha Stiglmair fed her for an open shot just inside the 18-yard box.
Alex Helbling played the first half in net and did not face a shot.
The Golden Eagles quickly added another goal after the Wildcats scored an own goal less than three minutes into the second half. Ryan Smith added another goal after a Wildcats foul in the box gave the Golden Eagles a penalty kick.
Up 6-0, Nelson added her second goal of the contest to make it 7-0 in favor of Southern Miss. Lena Blake and Kesaia Bruni teams up in the second half to blank PRCC. Blake had two saves, which were Southern Miss' only saves of the night.
