HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â Southern Miss women's golf coach Lucy Nunn Burke announced the 2022-23 schedule on Monday afternoon.Â
Entering her fifth season at the helm of the women's golf program, Nunn Burke will take her Southern Miss squad to the USA Intercollegiate at The Crossings Golf Club to open the season. The three-day event will start on Sept. 3 and will mark the second-straight season the Golden Eagles open at the South Alabama tournament.Â
"As our group gets better, so does our schedule. We are fairly familiar with some Sunbelt competition, but we have expanded our footprint to cover more ground and different opponents," Nunn Burke said. "We are most excited about hosting The Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club. This event is a great way for us to showcase our home and to honor the Judson family. The introduction into the Sunbelt is a huge turning point for this department and this program, and we cannot wait to tee it up in September."
Southern Miss will head to the Hoover Classic two weeks later to take part in a two-day event at Heatherwood Golf & Country Club on Sept. 19-20. From there, the Golden Eagles will head to Seattle, Wash. the first week of October to tee off at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.Â
The Golden Eagles make a return trip to Jonesboro, Ark. for the third-straight season to play in the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Oct. 10-11. Last year's tournament featured a third-place finish that was highlighted by a top-10 finish for Elena Melich.Â
Southern Miss will return to Hattiesburg on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 to host The Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club. It will be the first tournament hosted by the Golden Eagles since the 2016-17 season when they hosted the Golden Eagle Jam. The two-day event will feature 12 teams, including Sun Belt rivals South Alabama and ULM.Â
Nunn Burke's squad will open the backend of the season at the Tulane Classic on Feb. 12. The three-day event will be played at English Turn Golf & Country Club. Southern Miss will head back to Louisiana two weeks later to play in the Tchefuncta Invitational at Tchefuncta Golf & Country Club on Feb. 27-28.Â
