INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Southern Miss women's tennis senior Monique Burton was named a finalist for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award that is given annually to female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in their community, athletics, and academics throughout their college careers.
The Syndey, Australia native recently wrapped up her senior season in an impressive way, finishing with eight wins to make her the third-winningest Golden Eagle on the roster. Burton finished her career in the Black and Gold with a 21-8 record and a .724 winning percentage.
Outside of the playing court, Burton was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned the Commissioner's Academic Medal on numerous occasions for her academic success. She was also named an ITA Scholar Athlete and Southern Miss' female Scholar Athlete of the Year at the 2022 SAAC Talon Awards in May.
