HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss baseball fans will notice a change in left field beginning this weekend as Southern Miss Athletics prepares to enhance the game day experience by adding a new video scoreboard.
The process of construction of a Daktronics LED Video Display - 30-feet high and 49.20-feet wide, is currently underway in transforming the way Golden Eagle fans enjoy baseball at their home facility.
The video display includes a pixel pitch of 10 mm and its matrix will by 900 pixels high by 1476 pixels wide.
The new board will allow fans to see current lineups of each team on the field, video replays, and updated statistics for each player in real time.
Also tied in with the new videoboard will be the Trackman Baseball System, providing additional information such as exit velocity on batter's contact, distance on home runs and miles per hour on pitches delivered by pitchers among other things to entertain fans.
While construction is taking place, the old scoreboard will still be utilized for home games, but its location has been moved slightly to center field.
The completion of the scoreboard will take place over the next month and should be operational prior to the Conference USA Baseball Tournament, set to be held at Pete Taylor Park, May 25-29.
