Golden Eagles Shine at USA Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southern Miss track and field received wins from D.J. Butler, Lina May and Corvell Todd, while Fred Moudani broke his own school record in the shot put to lead the Golden Eagles at the USA Invitational hosted by the University of South Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
"We had a fantastic meet today," said Jon Stuart. "I'm really pleased with our performance at the same track that we'll compete at for our conference meet. We've built a lot of momentum headed into the second half of the season, and I'm excited to see how we carry it into the next meets."
Butler ran a personal-best 47.29 in the 400m to take gold and set the meet record in the event. Todd picked up his seventh event title in the high jump, clearing 6'11.75" to bring home first. In her second race of the season, May broke her own personal best with a 9:50.56 to win the race by four seconds. On the day, Southern Miss totaled 12 trips to the podium, picking up five second-place finishes and four third-place finishes.
