Chompitakdacha Leads Golden Eagles at Tulane Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Southern Miss women's golf teams sits in eighth following the opening day of the Tulane Classic at English Turn Golf & Country Club.Â
The Golden Eagles shot a 32-over par 320 in the first round with junior Friend Chompitakdacha sitting tied for 11th after firing a five-over 77. Chompitakdacha carded a pair of birdies.Â
Merche Corbacho added an eight-over 80 to finish tied for 27th.Freshman Elena Melich shot a nine-over 81, while Momoka Ando finished with a 10-over 82. Icie Cockerham rounded out the lineup with an 88. Playing as an individual, freshman Jacee Fields shot a 14-over 86. North Texas leads the 16-team field after 12-over par 300.
Southern Miss will be back on Monday for the second round. The final round will take place on Tuesday.Â
