Southern Miss Closes Regular Season in Style at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE – The Southern Miss track and field team saw two school records fall and numerous personal-best recorded at the Music City Challenge on Friday and Saturday at the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of Vanderbilt University.
"We had a fantastic meet to end the regular season," head coach Jon Stuart said. "Two schools records from Smilla and Fred were electrifying. We also had numerous indoor bests that really help us create some momentum as we quickly set our sights on the Conference USA Championships next weekend."
Freshman Smilla Kolbe shattered her personal record by over three seconds to set a new program record of 2:07.71 in the 800m, while Fred Moudani moved his school record in the shot put to 63'5.0" to finish fourth in the event. Over the two days, Southern Miss had multiple student-athletes set or match personal-records, including six different student-athletes in the men's and women's 800m.
