
Men’s Golf Tied for Fourth Following Opening Day at White Sands Bahamas Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss sophomore Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) opened the White Sands Bahamas Invitational with a double bogey before rallying with birdies over his next three holes on his way to totaling eight in his first round Friday in Nassau with a six-under 66 to put him in a three-way tie for first place.
Five Golden Eagles, one of which is playing as an individual, shot par or below over the first 18 holes to help Southern Miss tie for fourth with Sam Houston with a nine-under 279. Arkansas State compiled a 14-under 274 to hold the team lead, while Duke ranks second at 276 and Stetson third at 277.
Following Dupuy in the individual scoring for the Golden Eagles was Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) who collected a 70 to place tied for 20th, while Tommy Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) added a 71 to tie for 23rd and Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand), registered a 72 to tie for 34th place.
Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario), playing as an individual, also ranks tied for 34th with a 72 of his own, while Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) rounded out the scoring with a 78 for a 66th-place tie.
Dupuy, who won his last event at the Little Rock Invitational, finds himself in a first-place tie for the individual race with Bret Gray of Sam Houston and Max Schliesing of UTEP.
Round two of the tournament will take place Saturday with a 7 a.m. CT shotgun start, before finishing Sunday with a final round in the 54-hole event.
