Yazgan, Burton & Medik Take Home Titles at NSU Invitational

NATCHITOCHES, La. -- The Golden Eagles' women's tennis program brought home a singles and doubles title on the final day of the Natchitoches Women's Care Lady Demon Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25.
Sarah Medik, Suhana Das, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, Monique Burton and Clara Tardivel finished their time in Natchitoches on Saturday in singles and doubles competition. Yazgan took home a singles championship, while the pair of Burton and Medik cruised to a doubles title.
Yazgan brought home the first place title in the White Singles Draw, defeating Ayu Ishibashi in two sets to finish her weekend 3-0 in singles competition.
Tardivel defeated Elise Frigout of Stephen F. Austin in the third place match of the same bracket after three competitive sets.
Burton and Medik finished their weekend with a 3-0 record as a pair, defeating two teams from host program Northwestern State. They handley won their final match, 6-0 to win the Purple Doubles Draw.
Das finished singles competition on Saturday with a win in the third place match of the Black Singles Draw. She soundly defeated Paula Cerda of Stephen F. Austin in two sets to bring home the third place title for her draw.
Medik fell in three sets in the consolation final of the Purple Singles Draw to Rozalie Dohnalova of Northwestern State.
The Golden Eagles will next head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take part in the ITA Regionals, hosted by the University of Alabama on Oct. 13-17.
