Men's Golf Opens Play with 36 Holes at Husky Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- On the strength of a first-round 66, Southern Miss sophomore Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) holds an 11th-place tie to lead the Golden Eagles over the opening 36 holes of the Husky Invitational, Monday, in Bremerton, Wash.
Latter also carded a 74 in the second round at the Olympic Course at the par 72 Gold Mountain Golf Club to hold a 140 overall score to pace the squad. After a slow start, senior Hunter Atkins (West Point, Miss.) added a 75 and a two-under par 70 for a 145, while sophomore Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) posted rounds of 73 and 72 as both players are tied for 34th-place tie.
The Golden Eagles went on to score of 582, shooting its fourth-straight par or below round with an even-par 288 before ending with a six-over 294 to tie for 12th in the team standings with Cal Poly and Seattle University in the 16-team field.
Senior Brice Wilkinson (Madison, Miss.) collected rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152 and a tie for 70th, while freshman Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) added a 75 and a 78 for a 153 and a 74th-place tie.
Host Washington leads the field with a 23-under 553, followed by Oregon and Boise State (567), Missouri and Oregon State (569), Nevada (570), St. Mary's (571), San Jose State (575), Washington State (577), Long Beach State (578), San Diego State (579), Southern Miss, Cal Poly and Seattle, Toledo (586) and Idaho (608).
The event concludes with the final 18 holes which is set to start at 10 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Fans can follow the live scoring here.
