Golden Eagles Ready For Opening Trip To Baton Rouge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss soccer team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to face-off against SEC opponent, Louisiana State for its regular-season opener, Thursday, Aug. 19 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
"I am thrilled for this group of Golden Eagles who have already shown a lot of growth. They have come together in such a short time. We are looking forward to displaying our qualities and have a performance that we are all proud of." said Head Coach Mohammed El-Zare.
Series History: The Tigers of LSU lead the series 4-0-0, which started in 2006.
Last Meeting: The Spring 2021 season was the previous meeting between USM and LSU. On Feb. 19, 2021, the teams met in Baton Rouge as the Tigers held on to a first-half lead to win, 1-0.
Last Time In Hattiesburg: The Golden Eagles and Tigers last met in Hattiesburg, Sep. 17, 2006, as LSU won the game 2-1.
