Softball Drops Saturday’s C-USA Doubleheader

DENTON, TX. – The Southern Miss softball team fell to North Texas in back to back games dropping game one 3-0 and game two 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles enter a 10-game skid and move to a season record of 20-23.
Game one
The Golden Eagles saw a great effort from junior pitcher Kaylan Ladner in game one. Ladner threw a complete game and struck out two batters before the game was decided. The Kiln, Miss. native recorded the loss and fell to 9-6 on the season.
Heather Hill recorded the only hit of the game for the Golden Eagles in the sixth inning.
The Golden Eagles were fundamentally sound in the field giving up not a single free base due to an error.
Game two
The Golden Eagles dropped a heartbreaker in game two of the scheduled doubleheader losing to The Mean Green on a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh.
Sisters Karsen and Makenna Pierce would combine to pitch for seven innings striking out six batters. Makenna Pierce recorded the loss and moves to 2-9 on the season.
Senior Destini Brown led the Golden Eagles offensively recording three hits and scoring one run in the game's sixth inning.
Next Time Out
The Golden Eagles will be back in action again Sunday, April 25 versus North Texas at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. in Denton.
