Women's Golf Completes Second Day at English Turn

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team has two in the top-30 of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate through the first two rounds.
Merche Corbacho shot a 3-over 75 to stay at No. 12, while Valeria Pichardo's 78 puts her in a tie for 28th. Tenley Moretti also cut six strokes off her first day, while Julie Baker, competing as an individual, took two off.
Corbacho is seeking the third top-20 finish of her freshman season, with her current standing serving as her best. The latter also goes for Pichardo, who previously was 35th at the Mercer Invitiational in the fall.
As a team, the Golden Eagles have the sixth-best par-five score of the field. Tuesday will feature the third and final round, which has seen the team's lowest score in four of five events this year.
