Southern Miss Takes Game One Versus Jacksonville State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles improved to 9-2 after beating Jackson State in Jacksonville, Alabama. The contest went all seven innings and resulted in a 7-3 Golden Eagle victory.
Southern Miss had an outstanding offensive day finding the long ball three times throughout the contest. Hannah Borden, Destini Brown, and Alyssa Davis' home runs combined for a total of five RBI's and solidified a Golden Eagle victory.
The Golden Eagles moved runners throughout the match with ease stealing three bases.
The lineup exemplified plate discipline drawing seven walks causing the Gamecocks to throw multiple pitchers.
Southern Miss played hard nose defense behind starter Morgan Leinstock. Leinstock pitched a complete game and striking out nine batters.
The sophomore advances to 3-0 on the season demonstrating another outstanding performance.
The Golden Eagles pitching rotation are posting impressive numbers averaging a 1.26 ERA as a staff.
Southern Miss competes again tomorrow in a doubleheader versus Jackson State at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. (CT).
