Southern Miss Softball Prepares for Jacksonville State and Houston Baptist

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Softball team prepares for a weekend of competition including a single game on Friday followed by two doubles headers on Saturday and Sunday.
To kick off the weekend, the Golden Eagles head to Jacksonville Alabama to match up against Jacksonville State in a single game beginning at 6:00 p.m. (CT). The following Saturday, Southern Miss will face off against the Gamecocks again in a doubleheader at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. (CT) in Jacksonville, Alabama. The final two contest of the weekend will be played in Hattiesburg, Miss. when the Golden Eagles host Houston Baptist in a double header at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. (CT) in Hattiesburg.

Tuesday, Southern Miss matched up against in-state rival Jackson State in a doubleheader. The Golden Eagles swept the series winning 6-2 in game one and 10-0 in game two. The second game saw five Southern Miss home runs on twelve hits. In the bottom of the second inning Heather Hill and Karsen Pierce timed back-to-back homers leading the offensive charge for Southern Miss.
