Golden Eagles Return to Action Sunday with West Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Fourteen days since its last action, the Southern Miss women's tennis team is set to host West Alabama on Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
Southern Miss has had three-straight matches postponed due to weather (Jacksonville State, Alabama State, Jackson State), with the first two being on the road. Its only action so far was a Jan. 15 defeat at Mississippi State, followed by a Feb. 7 win over Florida A&M.
In that win over the Rattlers, head coach Steve Schram earned his 100th-career victory, improving to 24-7 at Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles swept doubles as well. Ebru Zeynep Yazgan remained on the No. 3 court, the only similarity in the lineup from Mississippi State.
This will be the fifth-straight year that Southern Miss and West Alabama have met, including a 6-1 win last season. Each of the Tigers' competitions this year have been against Division I foes. They first defeated Jacksonville State in an exhibition, followed by 6-1 defeats to Wyoming and South Alabama (Feb. 17 for the latter).
