Southern Miss Returns to Face Blue Mountain in Final Home Non-Conference Contest

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After taking the week off for final exams, the Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball return to action tomorrow evening against NAIA opponent Blue Mountain at 6 p.m. from Reed Green Coliseum.

Scouting Blue Mountain
• Head coach Tracy Rice is in her second season at the helm of the Toppers and has posted a record of 9-24 throughout her time with Blue Mountain.
• Blue Mountain enters Sunday's contest with a record of 5-6, having just busted a five-game slide on Saturday against Fisk University.
• The Toppers defeated Fisk, 71-50, on Saturday in their final home non-conference contest.
• Blue Mountain's twin sisters Carmen Taylor and Charmen Taylor combined for 37 points and 21 rebounds in a 71-50 rout of Fisk Saturday at the Johnnie Armstrong Classic.
• The two sisters are pacing the Blue Mountain squad with Carmen averaging 17.1 PPG and Charmin averaging 10.1 PPG.
Scouting Southern Miss
• Conference USA Co-Freshman of the Year Melyia Grayson is averaging close to a double-double after the first two games of her sophomore season. Grayson is second on the squad with 13.7 PPG and leads the Lady Eagles in rebounding with 8.6 RPG.
• Since breaking her nose at shootaround of the UAPB game, Grayson has been on a tear, while donning a protective face guard. Grayson is shooting the ball at a 56.4% clip, averaging 16.3 PPG and 8.3 RPG in her three games with the mask.
• Southern Miss currently leads Conference USA with 16.1 assists per game. Transfer Domonique Davis leads the league with 37 helpers on the season.
• Out of 348 Division I programs, USM ranks at 335 for three-point field goals per game, averaging just 3.0 per game. The Lady Eagles have made just 24 3's entering the game on Monday which ranks at 334th in the nation.
