
Men's Basketball Travels to Fort Worth for First Road Test

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â The Southern Miss (1-1, 0-0 CUSA) men's basketball team is headed to Fort Worth, Texas to square off against TCU (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) in its first road test of the season on Monday, Nov. 15. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.Â

The Need to Know
The Golden Eagles are playing on short rest after falling to Louisiana 66-45 at Reed Green Coliseum Friday night. Jay Ladner's squad pulled within two points with eight minutes to play before the Ragin' Cajuns silenced the raucous crowd. Isaih Moore scored in double figures for the second-straight game, dropping 19 points in 36 minutes of playing time. The junior transfer pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Days after exploding for 30 points against William Carey, junior Tae Hardy scored 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor.
Southern Miss and TCU have played six previous times and are deadlocked at three wins apiece. TCU has won all three meeting in Fort Worth and took the 2004 home contest, 79-67. The Golden Eagles haven't won a road opener since beating SMU in 2018. Amongst Conference USA players, Hardy ranks second in points per game at 22.0 through the opening week. Only Western Kentucky's Dayvion McKnight is averaging more at 26.5 points per game.Â

The Horned Frogs are 1-0 after routing McNeese 77-61 on Thursday night. Mike Miles Jr., a 2021 Big 12 All-Freshman Team member, led all scorers with 22 points and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Emanuel Miller and Chuck O'Bannon Jr. added 12 and 10 points, respectively. McNeese was held to 34.8 percent from the floor and made 7-of-24 from deep. TCU had seven players make their debut on Thursday night, including Miller.Â
