Southern Miss Women’s Basketball Overpowers Southeastern Baptist

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – All 12 of the available Lady Eagles found the scoring column, as Southern Miss cruised to a 109-18 victory over Southeastern Baptist College in an exhibition on Tuesday evening at Reed Green Coliseum.
"I think we did a very good job of sharing the basketball," said head coach Joye Lee-McNelis. "We have to continue to emphasize that. The third and fourth quarters I thought we really attacked the rim. We were able to see some decisions get better as the ball was rotated around the horn and got some really good looks for our young players."
The Lady Eagles were by Dominique Davis, who finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Overall, six players finished in double figures with Fess Hawkins (14), Kelsey Jones (13), Melyia Grayson (12), Lauren Gross (10) and Asjha Leake (10) all joining Davis.
Defensively, Southern Miss held the Chargers to just 4-of-46 from the field, while forcing 31 turnovers.
The Lady Eagles return to action for their season opener against cross-town foe William Carey on Nov. 9. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT from Reed Green Coliseum.
