NORMAN, Okla. – The Southern Miss men's golf program was honored Thursday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as an All-Academic Team for having a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 academic year.
"This is a fantastic honor for our team," said Southern Miss men's golf coach Eddie Brescher. "It is incredible the hours that our guys put on and off the course. To have our team balance their athletic talents and school work at such a high standard means the world to me as a coach. It shows that being involved with our golf program at Southern Miss properly prepares them for life after college athletics."
Prior to 2017, the Golden Eagle program had not accomplished this award. They have now done it four-straight years.
Kentucky (Division I), Maryville (Division II), Swarthmore (Division III), Wayland Baptist (NAIA), Northeast Mississippi (NJCAA Division I), South Mountain (NJCAA Division II) were all named Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions, announced by the GCAA.
A total of 250 schools, spanning six divisions of collegiate golf, submitted GPA's of 3.0 or above.
