Sarah Medik Named to C-USA's All-Freshman Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss' Sarah Medik earned a spot on Conference USA's Women's Tennis All-Freshman Team, as announced by the league Monday.

Medik, a native of Dornbirn, Austria, posted a 7-1 singles record between Courts 1-3. She also earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over UTSA's Laura Cabrera and finished 6-2 in doubles, including 5-2 alongside Monique Burton. The team's 11-1 record was on pace to be best in school history (min. 15 matches played) until the COVID-19 suspension.

Medik is the first Golden Eagle to earn All-Freshman honors in the league's three years of honoring it. She is also the first to earn postseason recognition since Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen for singles in 2018.

Superlative awards around the league went to Holly Hutchinson (Old Dominion, Player of the Year), Radka Buzkova (Florida Atlantic, Freshman of the Year) and Maria Ponomareva (North Texas, Newcomer of the Year).
