Women's Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Six in Win Over MVSU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Golden Eagles (11-1, 1-0 C-USA) took care of business against Mississippi Valley State in dominant fashion on Saturday morning to move their unbeaten streak to six. The Southern Miss Women's Tennis team did not drop a single set at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.

All three Golden Eagle double teams won via a 6-0 score to give Southern Miss their 11^th doubles point of the season. Katia de la Garza and Warisara Lee pushed their record to a team-best 9-1 mark. Sarah Medik and Monique Burton moved to 5-2 while Tanit Lopez and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan now sit 4-0 as a pairing.

Freshman Jeanne Gearity slid into the lineup and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Traci Carter. Gearity now owns a 3-0 mark in her freshman campaign. Medik, Yazgan, Lee, Lopez, and Burton all won via a 6-0, 6-0 score as well. The Golden Eagles are off to their best start in program history and move Head Coach Steve Schram one win away from 100 career wins.

The Golden Eagles will return to action next Saturday when they host Xavier (La.) at 2 p.m.
