Women's Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Six in Win Over MVSU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Golden Eagles (11-1, 1-0 C-USA) took care of business against Mississippi Valley State in dominant fashion on Saturday morning to move their unbeaten streak to six. The Southern Miss Women's Tennis team did not drop a single set at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
All three Golden Eagle double teams won via a 6-0 score to give Southern Miss their 11th doubles point of the season. Katia de la Garza and Warisara Lee pushed their record to a team-best 9-1 mark. Sarah Medik and Monique Burton moved to 5-2 while Tanit Lopez and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan now sit 4-0 as a pairing.
Freshman Jeanne Gearity slid into the lineup and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Traci Carter. Gearity now owns a 3-0 mark in her freshman campaign. Medik, Yazgan, Lee, Lopez, and Burton all won via a 6-0, 6-0 score as well. The Golden Eagles are off to their best start in program history and move Head Coach Steve Schram one win away from 100 career wins.
