
Men's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Contest to Statesmen

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Delta State struck first with the doubles point then was able to finish with a 4-3 victory over host Southern Miss on Saturday afternoon.
"We have plenty of room to grow, and today we fell short against a good team," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "Our team will learn to play with adversity as the season goes on, and we have a great opportunity tomorrow against UAB."
The Golden Eagles used new tandems on all three doubles courts for the first time this season, but fell 6-4 on No. 2 and 3 while the first court was in a 5-5 dead-heat.
As for singles, Alexander Gima moved to 3-1 on the year and Vence N'Tcha went to 2-0. Today marked only the first loss of the season for Christopher Cahour and Antoine Androine, who were a combined 9-0 to start. Matthieu Peres remained perfect with his sixth-straight win.
The Golden Eagles (4-2) and Blazers will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
