Men's Tennis Takes to Road Again Saturday at Troy

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Men's Tennis will get some Leap Day action this weekend when it plays at Troy on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Golden Eagles were home for seven-straight matches before playing at New Orleans on Saturday, falling 6-1. Monday's contest at Jackson State was rained out.
Southern Miss is 32-14 in singles this year, with Matthieu Peres playing on a team-high four different courts. His 7-1 record is tops on the team. Alexander Gima (4-2) and Christopher Cahour (7-2) have also diversified with three-different singles positions, while Gima and Peres have been the best doubles pairing (5-2).
The last meeting between the teams saw the Golden Eagles win 6-1 at home on Feb. 13, 2018.
The Trojans are 7-4, which includes a neutral-site win over Big East foe DePaul, a squad the Golden Eagles defeated at home back in 2018. Head coach Rolando Vargas is in his second year after having a highly-successful tenure at NAIA Auburn-Montgomery. His women's teams won four national titles, while the men were runners-up in 2013.
Player-wise, Carles Anton and Oskar Michalek are a combined 21-1 in singles.
