HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team (8-3) will host McNeese State (13-2) and Alcorn State (5-12) in midweek matchups.

Southern Miss will take on McNeese State on Tuesday (Feb. 25) in a single game at 6:00 p.m. at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg.

On Wednesday (Feb. 26), Southern Miss will square off against Alcorn State in a doubleheader at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and game two is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday's doubleheader against Alcorn State was originally scheduled to be played on February 19, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Last Time on the Diamond
The Golden Eagles posted a 4-0 record in the Michelle Short Memorial Classic in Conway, Ark. this past weekend.

Southern Miss defeated Jackson State 14-3 (five innings) and Arkansas – Pine Bluff 21-5 (five innings) on Saturday (Feb. 22). On Sunday (Feb. 23) Southern Miss took down Morehead State 13-2 (five innings) and Central Arkansas 7-4.

Southern Miss vs. Jackson State (Feb. 22)

The Golden Eagles tallied a season-high 17 hits in the contest.
Madison Rayner batted in the leadoff spot for the first time in 2020.
Senior shortstop Lacey Sumerlin hit a triple in the top of the first inning and it marked her first triple of the season.
Southern Miss junior third baseman Alyssa "Tata" Davis registered a pair of doubles in the game, marking the first time that she has done so in a single game this season.
Sophomore right fielder Caroline Casey registered her first double of the season after hitting a double in the top of the fourth inning.

Southern Miss vs. Arkansas – Pine Bluff (Feb. 22)

Southern Miss scored a season-high 21 runs in the contest.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Breley Boykin's start versus Arkansas – Pine Bluff marked the first of her Southern Miss career.
Sophomore catcher Bre Blankenship's two-run single in the bottom of the first inning marked her first hit of the season.
Freshman utility player/catcher Caroline Worrell collected the first hit of her Southern Miss career after tallying a single in the bottom of the first inning.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Kaley Fruge's fifth inning triple marked her first hit of the season.
Freshman second baseman Maddie Vasque's triple that came in the bottom of the fifth inning marks the first triple of her Southern Miss career.

Southern Miss vs. Morehead State (Feb. 23)

Sumerlin notched her first home run of the season after belting a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning.
Sumerlin became the fifth Golden Eagles to record a home run in 2020.
Redshirt junior outfielder Amber Pack logged the first grand slam of her Southern Miss career after hammering a bases-clearing shot in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Pack and junior center fielder Destini Brown are the only two Southern Miss players that have registered grand slams this season.
Pack posted the first multi-home run game of her Southern Miss career.
Pack's four hits and seven RBIs both mark new single-game Southern Miss career-highs for the Brandon, Miss native.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Kaylan Ladner finished the game with seven strikeouts, tying her single-game Southern Miss career-high.
Sophomore left fielder Madison Rayner, Sumerlin and Pack all recorded multiple hits in the game.

Southern Miss vs. Central Arkansas (Feb. 23)

Rayner, Sumerlin and Davis all recorded multiple hits in the contest.
Pack collected her eighth RBI of the game after recording an RBI single in the top of the first inning.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Savanna Wood picked up her third win of the season and now leads the Golden Eagles' pitching staff in the wins column.

Breaking Down the All-Time Records
Southern Miss leads the all-time series against McNeese State with a record of 25-11. The Golden Eagles are 12-4 when hosting the Cowgirls at home in Hattiesburg, 8-5 in matchups played on the road in Lake Charles, La. and 5-2 in 5-2 in matchups played at a neutral site.

Southern Miss leads the all-time series against Alcorn State, 19-1. Southern Miss is 15-1 when hosting Alcorn State at the Southern Miss Softball Complex, 2-0 in games played on the road in Lorman, Miss. and 2-0 when facing the Lady Braves at a neutral site.

The Last Meetings
The last time that Southern Miss and McNeese State met on the softball field was on April 17, 2019 at Joe Miller Field in Lake Charles, La. Southern Miss won the game by a final score of 10-4.

The last time that the Southern Miss and Alcorn State softball teams faced each other was on March 12, 2019 in a doubleheader played at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg.

Southern Miss shutout Alcorn State 7-0 in game one and took a 7-2 decision in game two.

The Opponents
McNeese State is led by fourth-year Head Coach James Landreneau.

This past weekend, McNeese State went 3-0 in the Mardi Gras Mambo tournament held in Youngsville, La. McNeese State defeated Middle Tennessee 8-0 (six innings), Detroit Mercy 21-5 (five innings) and Jacksonville State 9-1 (six innings).

Alcorn State is led by Head Coach Josef Rankin who has been at the helm of the Lady Braves softball program since 2015.

Alcorn State went 0-5 in the SLU Tournament in Youngsville, La. this past weekend. Alcorn State fell to Incarnate Word 3-2 and 8-6, Nicholls 5-1, Southeastern Louisiana 9-4, Abilene Christian 11-1 (six innings).

Game Promotions
Tuesday night's game will feature Mardi Gras, a King Cake Walk, $2 Tuesday, Bingo Night and FREE donuts will be given away while supplies last.

Mardi Gras – FREE beads will be given away while supplies last and all in-game promotions will be Mardi Gras themed.

King Cake Walk – Seven lucky fans will be able to participate in the King Cake Walk which will take place on the field in the middle of the third inning. Three lucky winners will each take home their very own king cake.

$2 Tuesday – General admission tickets will be sold for $2 each.

Wednesday night's doubleheader versus Alcorn State will feature Youth Team Night and Bingo Night.

Youth softball teams with players in 8^th grade and below can submit a roster and receive FREE general admission tickets for players and coaches.

Bingo Night

Fans of all ages can grab a bingo card upon entering the stadium if they wish to participate, and multiple winners will take home a prize.
