Lady Eagles to Face LA Tech in Ruston

This will be the second time Southern Miss faces LA Tech this season.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball continue their road swing with a trip to Ruston, La. to take on the Lady Techsters of LA Tech with a 6:30pm tip off in Thomas Assembly Center.
Southern Miss (13-11, 5-8) takes on LA Tech (12-12, 4-9) for the second time this season, this time on their home court. The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Techsters 66-60 the first time this season in Reed Green Coliseum. The Lady Eagles took one step closer to evening the series last time out, and are now behind by just one in the all-time matchup at 8-9. Southern Miss is 3-7 in Ruston and 8-7 all-time under Coach McNelis.Â
The Lady Eagles are coming off a Florida road swing where they found wins against both Florida Atlantic and FIU. The Florida Atlantic win snapped a seven-game losing streak for Southern Miss. Respect Leaphart led her team against the FIU Panthers in her home state of Florida. Leaphart leads her team in points and rebounds, while Daishai Almond continues to lead in assists. Amber Landing leads the team in blocks with 38 in her senior season. Against the Panthers, she moved into the No. 3 all-time slot at Southern Miss for career blocks with 113 in her career.
LA Tech, the travel partner of the Lady Eagles, also just went on the Florida swing, but came out at 1-1 on the weekend. The Lady Techsters defeated FIU on Thursday 68-44, but dropped the contest against FAU on Saturday, 75-77. LA Tech is led by Amber Dixon in points with 291, and in rebounds by Anna Larr Roberson with 128. Dixon also leads them in assists with 63. The Lady Techsters are 10-4 when playing at home and are 3-3 when welcoming C-USA opponents to Ruston this season.
