The Golden Eagles are coming off a 0-3 weekend at the 12th-annual Southern Miss Classic. Saturday's contest against in-state rival Mississippi State proved to be a turning point for Southern Miss. The Bulldogs, who came into the contest undefeated, took an early lead on the Golden Eagles by winning the first two sets. However, the Golden Eagles scrapped together an impressive third set.Â
Backed by Kess Krutsinger's four kills in the third set, Southern Miss was in good shape to force another set. The Bulldogs were able to force five different lead changes and 12 ties before winning the final set, 25-23. Ashley Berry produced an impressive .429 hitting percentage on 12 kills.

The Ragin' Cajuns recently climbed back to a 3-3 record after winning all three matches at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic. In Lafayette, they opened Friday with a five-set win over McNeese and ended the day with a sweep of Eastern Michigan.
Louisiana closed the weekend with a 3-1 win over Florida A&M. The Ragin' Cajuns are led by Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot, who is the winningest coach in program history.
