Golden Eagles Finish Second Round in Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team shaved two strokes off its first-round total and held the No. 15 spot entering Sunday's third and final round at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Valeria Pichardo led the team with a nine-stroke improvement (87 to 78) from Friday, topped only by Julie Baker's 11-stroke reduction in the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate. It also marked her personal-best for single-round stroke improvement. Her two birdies came on No. 4 and 18.
Friend Chompitakdacha held steady with her second-straight, 3-over 75, which included three birdies. She has also moved up to No. 25, matching her career-best finish in Knoxville in her previous event.
The Golden Eagles sit five strokes ahead of Toledo and eight behind Georgia State.Â
Sunday's final-round action will begin at 8 a.m. CT., and live scoring is available through Golfstat.com.
