HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team is set for its second tournament of the fall campaign, this time in Greenville, S.C. at the Lady Paladin Invitational from Friday to Sunday.
The action will take place at the Furman University Golf Course, a par-72, 6,278-yard venue, and live scoring is available via Golfstat.com. Each round will begin at 8 a.m. CT.
Participating teams include No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 30Â Furman, as well as Coastal Carolina, Daytona State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, JMU, Kansas, North Florida, ODU, Richmond, South Florida, Southern Miss, Toledo, Tulsa and UNC-Wilmington.
The Golden Eagles will be represented by Friend Chompitakdacha, Valeria Pichardo, Tenley Moretti, Cassidy Evreniadis and Emily Cox.
This is familiar territory for Cox and Pichardo, who competed in the event back in September 2017. The Golden Eagles finished ninth out of 17 teams, with Cox (a native of Lancaster, S.C.) carding an 11-over 227 and Pichardo a 25-over 241. It also marked each of their collegiate debuts. Cox enters the weekend as the most-experienced Golden Eagle in terms of tournaments played with 12. Evreniadis, the team's lone senior, has appeared in nine since transferring from Iowa Western CC prior to her junior year.
Chompitakdacha excelled in the challenging, season-opening tournament, improving score in each of her three rounds to finish with an even-71 and 219 overall to tie for 25th, all three of which marking career-bests. Moretti is competing in her second tournament as a Golden Eagle upon transferring from Iowa State.
