The ladies of Southern Miss Cross Country will run in the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The women of the Southern Miss cross country team will begin their season in Memphis, Tenn. at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University.
Cross Country Coach Aaron Kindt
"We are excited to get the season started. We are doing something a bit different this year to open up the fall, heading up to Memphis to race in the late evening, under the lights. It's a really unique environment; not something you get a chance to do often in cross country. I think it'll be an interesting change up for the veteran team we have returning. We are also getting a chance to see some really tough competition from the get go, so I am excited to see how the group competing this weekend responds to that challenge."
This will be the first time that Southern Miss cross country will compete at a meet hosted by Christian Brothers University. It will be a 5k race around the campus of Christian Brothers.
Southern Miss will run starting at 9:20pm. The top 15 finishers will be given awards at the finish line, as well as team awards.
In the preseason poll for Conference USA, the Golden Eagles placed fourth.
The Runners
Returners Monika Gebarzewska, Theresa Harto, Regen McGee, Sarah McMillon, and Savannah McMillon will be competing. Newcomer Katelyn Cartwright will also be running in her first collegiate race.
All Trax Timing will be the timing company for the race.
