Four Women's Tennis Student-Athletes Earn ITA Academic Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2019 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes, which included four women's tennis student athletes and the team as a whole.
I am very proud of the team for their academic accomplishments," said head coach Steve Schram. "They work very hard in the classroom and it's an honor for them to be recognized by the ITA."
The Scholar-Athletes were Monique Burton (Sydney, Australia), Anastasija Cobanovic (Belgrade, Serbia), Tjasa Jerse (Medvode, Slovenia), and Rikeetha Pereira (Dubai, U.A.E.).
Jerse also earned a spot on the C-USA All-Academic Team, finishing 9-4 in singles play. With 67 wins as a Golden Eagle, Jerse ended her career ranked fourth all-time in career wins in program history.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
