Volleyball, Beach Volleyball Awarded AVCA Team Academic Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The American Collegiate Volleyball Association announced that the Southern Miss Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams as recipients of the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year.
"I'm very proud of both our indoor and beach student-athletes and the work they put in this academic year," head coach Stephanie Radecki said. "We have made great strides to build a culture that develops the person, the student, and the athlete in all of our women."
On the court, the Golden Eagles posted a cumulative GPA of 3.357 and a 3.615 cumulative GPA in the sand. It's the first time since the 2016 season that the Golden Eagles received the honor and the first time in program history for beach volleyball.
Established in the 1992-93 academic year, the award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Southern Miss was one of eight Conference USA programs on the list including: Charlotte, FIU, Middle Tennessee, Rice, UTEP, UTSA, and WKU.
