Southern Miss TF Heads to C-USA Outdoor Championships

The 2019 C-USA Outdoor Championship is hosted by Charlotte.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Golden Eagles of Southern Miss Track and Field head to Charlotte, N.C. for the 2019 C-USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Charlotte.

The Championships will be live on days two through four on CUSA.tv. Live results, schedule updates and more can be found via the Conference USA office on the Championship Central page. Highlights and results will also be posted to the official Twitter account of Southern Miss Track & Field, @SouthernMissTF. After the conclusion of the meet on Sunday, a full recap will be posted to SouthernMiss.com along with the final results and a photo gallery.
Last Time Out
At the 2018 C-USA Outdoor Championships hosted at Rice, the women came away with the Outdoor Title for the first time after posting 131 points. The men finished as the Runner-Up with 110 points. Jon Stuart was named the Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year, and McKinely West was named the Men's High Scorer of the meet with 28 points. Both West and John Warren earned Performer of the Meet honors; West for Track and Warren for Field. Alexis Chiles, McKinely West, John Warren, Caleb Parker, Callie Jones, and the men's 4x100m relay all took home gold medals. Warren broke the school record and the meet record in the triple jump.
The Breakdown
On day one of the Championships, Callie Jones will be the lone competitor for the Golden Eagles, competing in the heptathlon. Day two will see action from Danisha Jones and McKenna Mumaw in the hammer throw, Callie Jones continuing the heptathlon, and Emma Kate Holdbrooks and Lina May running in the 10,000m. Things will really pick up on day three of the Championships, with Golden Eagles competing in 11 different track events and four different field events. On day four, the final day, Golden Eagles will have up to six field events and up to 15 different track events, depending on the outcome of the prelims from the previous day.

After the C-USA Championships, the Golden Eagles look to send some student-athletes to the NCAA East Prelims.
