Southern Miss Completes Second Round of C-USA Championships

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Southern Miss saw a three-stroke improvement from its opening round, and the Golden Eagles will enter Wednesday's final round of the C-USA Championships in the No. 11 slot.
The Golden Eagles were one of just three teams (Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee) to improve their scoring on the day.
Both Miranda Holt and Henriette Syr shaved three strokes off their Monday scores, while Valentina Haupt held steady with her second-straight, 1-under 71 which is good enough to keep her in a tie for sixth.
Haupt and Holt each tallied four birdies on the day, while Syr added a pair. Haupt so far has also maintained the best score in the field among par-fives, holding a five-under over those eight holes. She is also one of five in the 60-person field to have finished each round below par.
Syr has also improved her first-to-second round scores in three consecutive events.
The final round will commence Wednesday morning, with live scoring available on Golfstat.com.Â
