
Valeria Pichardo Leads Golden Eagles After First 36 Holes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Sophomore Valeria Pichardo turned in each of her top two career-low rounds, a 74 in the first and 75 in the second, to hold a tie for No. 20 as the Southern Miss women's golf team completed the first 36 holes of the Memphis Intercollegiate on Monday.
Pichardo collected a birdie in each round as she maintained her consistent approach for the day. This is her fourth-career tournament.
Southern Miss currently sits in the No. 11 spot after lowering its score three strokes in the second round (306, then 303). Missouri State, Central Arkansas and Arkansas State are all tied for eighth with a 605, while WKU boasts a 603 in the No. 7 spot.
Freshman Friend Chompitakdacha matched her career-low with a 72 in the second round, marking a seven-stroke improvement from the first. She even had three birdies in a six-hole span. Her other previous-best came in the final round of last week's MountainView Collegiate.
Miranda Holt held a 5-over 76 after the first round, followed by a 77 in the second. Henriette Syr carried a 79 for the second stanza, a six-stroke improvement. Valentina Haupt maintained a 156
The Golden Eagles have also managed the fifth-best score for par-fives on the day, carding a 3-over as a team.
