HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (17-14, 4-5 C-USA) will host the Marshall Thundering Herd (21-11, 4-2 C-USA) in a weekend series at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31.

Southern Miss and Marshall will kickoff of the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30 beginning at 1:00 p.m. (CT). Game two of Saturday's doubleheader will follow shortly after the conclusion of game one.

The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a 12:00 p.m. (CT) series finale on Sunday, March 31.

The last time on the diamond
The last time that Southern Miss took the field was on Sunday, March 24 against UTEP. The Golden Eagles came away with a 13-2 victory (five innings), earning their first series win of the 2019 season. Southern Miss took the series against UTEP, 2-1.

Noteworthy moments
Southern Miss sophomore third baseman Alyssa "Tata" Davis was named C-USA Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 24.

The Philadelphia, Miss. native ended the week with a .600 (9-for-15) batting average, a .562 on-base percentage, and a 1.467 slugging percentage. In four games played over the course of the week, Davis scored five runs, collected 15 runs batted in, two doubles, one triple, three home runs and two stolen bases.

Two of Davis' three home runs on the week were grand slams, marking the first grand slams of the sophomore's Southern Miss career.

Marshall currently leads the all-time series 17-14. The Golden Eagles are 8-7 when hosting the Thundering Herd in Hattiesburg, 6-9 in road contests played in Huntington, W.Va. and 0-1 in the lone neutral site matchup that took place in Tulsa, Okla. as part of the 2006 C-USA Tournament.

The last time that Southern Miss and Marshall met was in a C-USA series played at Dot Hicks Field in Huntington, W.Va. on March 17th and 18th of 2018.
