Southern Miss Sees Success at Bulldog Relays

The Golden Eagles come back to Hattiesburg with first-place finishes and new outdoor personal bests.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Golden Eagles completed the Bulldog Relays held by Mississippi State on Saturday, coming home to Hattiesburg with good times and marks, first-place finishes and new personal bests.
For performances over the weekend in Division I track and field, Southern Miss ranked well. In both the men's and women's 4x200m relay, Southern Miss ranked second. In the men's 110m hurdles, Caleb Parker ranked second on the weekend. Sandra Szpott was eighth overall in the 1500m for the weekend.
Men's Events
100m – Chedlin Sagesse finished fifth with a time of 10.55. Elijah Burton came in 11th place with a time of 10.72, a personal best for the freshman.
110m Hurdles – Caleb Parker had a first-place finish with a time of 13.90, he also placed first in his heat. Christian Strong finished in 10th place at 14.65. Tamrin Hobbs finished in 15th with a time of 15.13. Keionis Spears came in 20th with a time of 15.97, a personal best for the senior.
200m – Tyrese Allen finished in 63rd place at 23.60.
400m – Mamadou Seck finished in 14th place with a time of 48.94, a personal-best time for the senior. Tyrese Allen came in 45th with a time of 53.48.
400m Hurdles – Mamadou Seck finished in 13th place with a time of 54.29, a personal best time for the senior. Tamrin Hobbs had a 19th-place finish in 56.05. Dexter Molden finished in 25th with a time of 56.85.
4x100m Relay – The men came in third with a team made up of Chedlin Sagesse, McKinely West, Elijah Burton, and Caleb Parker. They finished in 40.16.
4x200m Relay – Southern Miss finished second with a team of Chedlin Sagesse, McKinely West, Elijah Burton and Trey Johnson. They finished with a time of 1:24.62, a new school-best in the event.
4x400m Relay – Trey Johnson, McKinely West, Caleb Parker and Mamadou Seck made up the relay team that finished second in 3:11.09.
High Jump – Eric Richards came in first place with a mark of 6'10.75" (2.10m).
Long Jump – Eric Washington had a second-place finish with a personal-best mark of 24'6.25" (7.47m). John Warren finished fifth with a mark of 23'8.25" (7.22m). Chedlin Sagesse finished in sixth place with a mark of 23'6.75" (7.18m).
Javelin – Dominic Governale finished fifth with a mark of 205'8" (62.68m). Thomas Peters had a mark of 200'5" (61.10m), finishing seventh.
Women's Results
100m – Keiyana Gaskin finished in third place with a time of 11.90. Kadaria Thompson came in sixth with a time of 12.08. Shundoria Hardy came in 22nd with a time of 12.40.
100m Hurdles – Jasmine Griffin placed 10th with a time of 14:54. Marquasha Myers came in 18th place with a time of 14.73. Callie Jones had a 25th place finish in 14.96.
200m – Ola Akinniyi came in 45th place with a time of 26.37. Marquasha Myers finished 48th with a time of 26.47.
1500m – Sandra Szpott came in first place with a time of 4:26.37. Regen McGee came in fifth with a time of 4:39.31. Monika Gebarzewska finished in 10th with a time of 4:43.25. Sarah McMillon came in 15th place with a time of 4:50.02, a personal best for the sophomore.
5000m – Lina May had a first-place finish with a time of 17:39.00. Theresa Harto came in sixth with a time of 18:08.23. Emma Kate Holdbrooks came in 7th with a time of 18:13.74. Victoria Hoppe came in ninth with a time of 18:24.95.
4x100m Relay – The ladies came in sixth with a time of 46.35, with a team made up of Kadaria Thompson, Jasmine Griffin, Chenelle Ricketts and Keiyana Gaskin.
4x200m Relay – The squad of Rian Robinson, Chenelle Ricketts, Kadaria Thompson and Keiyana Gaskin came in first place, securing the win in 1:36.96.
4x400m Relay – Southern Miss finished second in 3:46.80 with a relay team of Rian Robinson, Chenelle Ricketts, Jasmine Griffin and Taylor Harris.
Sprint Medley Relay – A team of Ola Akinniyi, Jasmine Griffin, Aireanna Taylor, and Taylor Harris finished in third place with a time of 4:14.44.
High Jump – Zaria Jones came in sixth with a mark of 5'5" (1.65m).
Long Jump – Grace Parker came in 19th with a mark of 17'8.25" (5.39m).
Triple Jump – Marquasha Myers had a fourth-place finish with a mark of 40'6.25" (12.35m).
Shot Put – Danisha Jones finished in second with a mark of 48'10" (14.88m).
Discus – Danisha Jones finished in first place with a mark of 162'6" (49.54m).
Hammer – Danisha Jones finished sixth with a throw of 169'0" (51.52m). McKenna Mumaw came in 14th place with a mark of 145'8" (44.39m).
Javelin – Callie Jones came in sixth place with a mark of 134'8" (41.06m).
Up Next
Southern Miss will host the Southern Miss Invitational on Mar. 29-30. It will be broadcast by FloTrack and take place at the Marshall Bell Track.
