Southern Miss Softball to Host Florida Atlantic in C-USA Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team (14-10, 1-2) will return home for the weekend to host Florida Atlantic (12-12, 0-0) in a C-USA series at the Southern Miss Softball Complex (March 16-17).
The Golden Eagles and the Owls will open the series with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, March 16. Game two will follow shortly after the conclusion of game one.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend with the series finale that is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 17.
The last time on the diamond
The last time that Southern Miss took the field was on Wednesday, March 13 in a midweek road contest against Alabama State. The Golden Eagles defeated the Hornets by a final score of 5-0 in Montgomery.
As a team, the Golden Eagles posted a .344 (11-for-32) AVG in the contest with 5 RBIs, a HR, 2 2B, 5 BB and 3 SB.
Noteworthy moment
Southern Miss freshman outfielder and Hernando, Miss. native Caroline Casey collected the first RBI of her collegiate career in game two of Southern Miss' Tuesday night doubleheader against Alcorn State.
With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, Casey came to the plate and slapped a line drive single to center field that allowed Tata Davis to score the Golden Eagles' second run of the game.
