HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After jumping to a 6-0 start in the 2019 season, the Southern Miss women's tennis team is a week removed from dropping its first game to the hands of South Alabama. On Saturday morning, the Golden Eagles will look to redeem themselves against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
The Golden Eagles will head to Perkinston, Miss. for a 10 a.m contest against the Bulldogs. Last Saturday, Katia de la Garza remained undefeated with a win against the Jaguars at the No. 4 position. She was the lone Golden Eagle to receive a singles point. However, Southern Miss wound up with the doubles point after Arina Amaning and Tjasa Jerse won at the No. 1 pairing, and Rikeetha Pereira and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan won at the No. 2 pairing.

The Bulldogs come into Saturday's contest with a 1-6 record. They are paced by Margarita Lopareva at No. 1 singles, who has dropped only one match all season. Mississippi Gulf Coast is currently on a five-game skid, with its last win coming against Holmes Community College on February 1.
On March 11, the Golden Eagles will head to Texas for a three-game schedule against Incarnate Word, UTSA and Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
